The United States Junior Chamber (Jaycees) gives young people between the ages of 21 and 41 the tools they need to build the bridges of success for themselves in the areas of business development, management skills, individual training, community service, and international connections.
In the Sandhills region of North Carolina, the Central Carolina chapter raises funds and awareness for several local charities, as well as the three priority charities designated by the state:
- NC Jaycee Burn Center at UNC in Chapel Hill, NC
- Duke Cancer Institute in Durham, NC
- Jaycee Cottage of the Boys & Girls Home of NC in Lake Waccamaw, NC
All Jaycees — both nationally and internationally — are governed by the exact same creed. This “mission statement” gives great insight into the goals and attitude of individual chapters and members.
The Jaycee Creed
That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life.
That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations.
That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise.
That government should be of laws rather than of men.
That earth’s great treasure lies in human personality.
And that service to humanity is the best work of life!
