Patrick Kelly was named Most Outstanding Young North Carolinian and David Spivey earned Most Outstanding Senior Citizen. These awards are given to North Carolina citizens who demonstrate exemplary leadership, an outstanding record of personal achievement, and service to their communities at the local and state levels.
Kelly was instrumental in the success of the “Lights on Broadway” Beach Music Festival fundraiser for local tornado victims and helped launch the Down South Music Festival to benefit the CUOC. Kelly is a member of the Sanford Shrine Club, Broadway Lions Club, and Friendship Masonic Lodge. He also serves on various committees and boards.
Spivey is a past Sanford Jaycee, current member and past president of Jonesboro Rotary, and past Assistant District Governor Rotary District 7690. He has received numerous awards for leadership and citizenship over the years, including Small Business Person of the Year, Citizen of the Year, and Rotarian of the Year. Spivey also serves on numerous committees and boards, and is co-owner of Jones Printing Company.
Both Kelly and Spivey were nominated by the Central Carolina Jaycees. The leaders were recognized at a local Distinguished Service Awards banquet early this month. The local chapter also awarded the following:

- Richard Kalin, Boss of the Year
- Allie Eyers, Outstanding Teenager
- Corbitt Thomas, Outstanding Young Farmer
- Denny Ferguson, Outstanding Young Educator
